Advocate employees are paid biweekly. We are open Monday-Friday 8-5pm. We are closed for the 8 holidays! We offer affordable medical Insurance with 2 different plan options! Coding Lead

Candidates must possess outstanding organizational skills, ability to stay on task with minimal supervision and adapt in a constantly changing environment.  The Coding Team Lead will assist the coding supervisor with managing productivity and turnaround times.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring various queues in the coding system to ensure they are worked in a timely manner.
  • Review and evaluate patient medical records and accurately assign and sequence ICD-9 CM codes, CPT codes, and modifiers.
  • Communicate professionally with our outside vendors, client managers and clients.
  • Work with other departments to resolve issues identified.
  • Research coding related email inquiries.
  • New client implementations
  • MIPS and custom rules set up in the coding system
  • Maintain up to date documentation on various client specific spreadsheets
  • Keep assignment list up to date
  • Monitor vacations and plan for coverage for employees
  • Run client specific monthly custom flag reports

Education:  High school degree, GED or foreign equivalent required. AAPC, AHIMA, or RBMA Certification required


Experience:  Minimum of 3 years of medical coding experience, some radiology coding experience preferred. Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, modifier, knowledge of anatomy and physiology, Coding guidelines and methodologies, NCCI, LCD, NCD. 1-2 years Medical Billing experience is a plus. Experience with Optum coding software preferred.
